Introduction

Space, or outer space, is the area outside our planet Earth's atmosphere. Stars and planets exist in space. This entry has websites where you can find information about everything related to space from comets and meteors, to living in space.

General websites

There are some great websites with information on space.

NASA Space Place | YouTube

This is a YouTube channel that comes from NASA. It has lots of short videos that cover space topics.

  • Browse through the videos for one to watch.

  • Or look through the Playlists.

  • For example the Solar System playlist has a video about The Solar System's Formation.

Planetsforkids

This website has pictures and information about the planets in our solar system.

  • Use the menu on the left of the page to find information about each planet eg Mercury.

  • There are PDFs to download.

Tips: Many web pages have links to further information or to other recommended sites. Following these links is a great way to find out more. This searching method is called “pearl growing” because you are picking up pieces of sand to make a beautiful pearl!

ESA Kids

ESA Kids is another great website with lots of information about space.

  • Select the Learn tab at the top of the page.

  • Choose from the range of topics listed eg Comets or The International Space Station.
