Introduction

The sun is at the centre of the Solar System. It is a round ball of hot plasma. The Earth orbits around the sun, which gives us warmth and light. The sun is much bigger than the earth.

General websites

These websites will help you learn about the sun.

Britannica School

Britannica School is one of the EPIC databases. EPIC is a collection of reliable resources covering lots of different topics.

  • Ask the teacher or librarian to help you find the website and log in.

  • Enter 'sun' into the search bar.

  • Select the article called Sun.

  • Explore other articles if you want more information.

Tips: To get to the EPIC resources you will need a password from your school librarian first. Or you can chat with one of our AnyQuestions librarians between 1 and 6pm Monday to Friday and they will help you online. Some EPIC databases may also be available through your public library.

This website has been created for kids by NASA. It includes interesting articles, fun games and activities to do.

  • Go to the Sun image at the top of the homepage.

This website has information on lots of topics and is written for primary school students. It has plenty of pictures and interesting facts.

  • Enter the keyword 'sun' into the search bar to find the Sun topic page.
